New Features

K2 4.6.3 contains new K2 Features. For more information, download the PDF from the link available on the right hand menu bar.

Important Considerations and Behavioral changes made in the minor K2 4.6 release that you should be aware of:

  1. Internet Explorer 10 Support has been added in this release. For further details Refer to KB001327 - For K2 Workspace and K2 Process Portal to load correctly on Internet Explorer 10, compatibility mode is required.
  2. The Setup Manager's screens have changed in appearance but the functionality remains exactly the same.
  3. In K2 4.6.2 support has been added for CRM 2011. During installation or upgrade if the CRM configuration is enabled and CRM 2011 is selected the installer will switch the K2 Server to run on the .NET 4 Framework. If CRM 4 is selected then the K2 Server will continue to run on .NET 3.5 SP1. In an environment that is running a Farm it will be necessary to check that all the servers can be switched to run on the .NET 4 Framework.
  4. Read KB001280 to understand the changes made to the documentation in K2 4.6.
  5. On a clean install of K2 4.6 the shortcut icons will not be installed on the desktop, however on upgrades the icons will remain on the Desktop.
  6. The K2HostServer.config name has been changed to K2HostServer.exe.config. The following will occur at installation:

Upgrade:

The original K2HostServer.config file is backed up to [INSTALLDIR]SetupConfigurationBackup[DATE] folder

During upgrade the K2HostServer.exe.config is added and the existing settings are preserved.

Clean install:

Only the K2HostServer.exe.config will be available in the [INSTALLDIR]K2 blackpearl/ blackpointHost ServerBin

  1. See KB000686 for information relating to Using .NET 4.0 in a K2 4.6 Configuration.
  2. Repairing the Database Rebuild Indexing task in the Analysis tool will stop the K2 blackpearl/blackpoint service. If you choose to close the wizard while the task executes in the background the service will need to be manually started after the Agent Jobs complete. If you keep the Analysis tool open the task will start the service again automatically as soon as the jobs complete.
  3. In K2 4.6 the database name has changed from K2HostServer to K2.

K2 4.6 Clean installation

The default database name will be K2.

K2 4.6 Upgrade

The installer will identify the previous K2 database name and will populate the installer screen with the previous name.
