Hotfix: Active Directory Query Locks Server and Returns No Results

This patch deals with an issue related to the search functionality of Active Directory in K2 Workspace and the K2 Worklist in K2 for SharePoint. In K2 blackpearl 0803 when searching for a User, Groups or Roles the dropdown menu gave the following options to choose from:

• Starts With
• Contains
• Ends With
• Equal To

In the K2 blackpearl 0807 4.8210.1.x releases these options were replaced with a non-configurable option:

• Contains

As a result, when searching for a user, for instance "user-b", the query defaulted to a “Contains” query (“*username*”) and took up to twenty minutes to timeout, returning no results. Other symptoms during the time it took for the query to timeout include: the K2 Workflow Server locked and did not process any requests, process deployment failed, K2 Workflow in SharePoint failed, and all other instances in K2 Workspace timed out.

The patch replaces the non-configurable Contains option with the previous options. The patch also sets the default Search dropdown to the Starts With option.

This Patch is contained within the latest K2 blackpearl 0807 Update. Install the update package to resolve the error.
