Introduction
This patch deals with two InfoPath issues described below:
- Worklist items that utilize SharePoint InfoPath Forms Services for client events will not open in the browser and prompt for the InfoPath client application to open the item when opened from K2 Workspace. When opening the worklist item in the SharePoint form library the InfoPath Form will open successfully in a browser. This issue was caused by the designtemplate (XOML runtime schedule) that was updated to always point to the OpenInfoPathPage.aspx page in order to accommodate for the new Out of Office functionality. The form was then opened by retrieving the value of the InfoPath xmlfield in the process and opens the form using the temporary (in memory) value. As forms services requires a physical xml file location to point to before it can render correctly the temporary value did not work.
- If an existing InfoPath Integration process in K2 blackpearl 0803 is configured to deploy to a network location and K2 blackpearl is upgraded to K2 blackpearl 0807 4.8210.1.0 or 4.8210.1.1, an error occurs when attempting to open the worklist item in K2 Workspace. This issue was caused as a result of no backwards compatible check.
 | Note: The option in the K2 InfoPath Client Event to 'save a temporary file' will have NO effect. Instead, a temporary xml file will only be created when InfoPath Forms Services is used, and only after a worklist item has been opened, regardless of the 'save a temporary file' option. |
This article describes the errors and how to install the patch to resolve the issues.
The local machine has the following items installed:
- K2 blackpearl 0807 4.8210.1.0 or 4.8210.1.1

The K2 developer performs the following steps within a K2 process designer canvas:
- Create an InfoPath Integration process in K2 for Visual Studio that uses Forms Services
- Deploy the process
- Start an instance of the process from Management Console in K2 Workspace
- Open the worklist item from K2 Workspace
- The work item will open in the InfoPath Client

The K2 developer performs the following steps within a K2 process designer canvas:
- Upgrade K2 blackpearl 0803 to K2 blackpearl 0807 4.8210.1.0 or 4.8210.1.1
- Deploy the process
- Start an instance of the process from Management Console in K2 Workspace
- Open the worklist item from K2 Workspace
- An error message will be displayed
Error Messages
The following error message relates to this issue in the KB Article:
- Issue 1: No error message. InfoPath Form opens in InfoPath Client instead of in a browser.
- Issue 2: Error message "The OpenAsWebPage is not valid" as displayed below:
Error Resolution
This Patch is contained within the latest K2 blackpearl 0807 Update. Install the update package to resolve the issue.
