Introduction
The returned XML for a SharePoint user(s) is not fully formed if they have minimal permissions available when working within SharePoint.
Error Scenario
The following section discusses detail regarding the error.
 | Note: The steps below describe one scenario under which this error may occur. They are simplified and not all steps are shown or described. The issue described below is the result of an error related to user permissions and surfaces as an issue in more than one way. |
"Before" and "After" values are empty
While using the SharePoint Events Process Wizard, the EventDetail node's child data fields are not updated. The two fields, EventDetails_Before and EventDetails_After are essential for an association for workflow as they track the changes that take place for a MOSS list.
The issue can be reproduced by doing the following:
- Create a SharePoint Events Process. The Events Process is configured to point to a SharePoint site, with a site list e.g. MyList
- In the Events Selection, select "Item Updated" and then select Finish
- Add a Mail Event. In the message body, include the following fields
- EventDetails_Before
- EventDetails_After
- EventDetails
- Edit an item in the SharePoint List e.g. MyList to start a process
- When the email is recieved the data fields included in the mail body are empty, whereas they should be populated with the field title and type value
 | Note: A SharePoint List is required to reproduce the error |
Spaces and Special Characters
When using a SharePoint Custom list, and one of the columns i.e. fields contain a space or a special character, the XML returned will not be fully formed.
The issue can be reproduced by doing the following:
- Create a SharePoint event intergration project, include an "Add Item" event
- Include a mail event with the process where the SharePoint EventDetails are the message text
- Deploy The Process
- Add a new item to the Custom list within Sharepoint
- Check the mail for view the SpEventDetails text
- Notice that the XML structure is not fully formed
