In Part 2 we will look at the “Data” component of K2 applications and specifically using SmartObjects to interact with external systems. You will learn about the architecture of SmartObjects and how to use K2 design tools to build more advanced SmartObjects.
In the Expense Claim Application, we will use SmartObjects to automatically provide data for form fields such as the Expense Category drop-down list as well as the Currency drop-down list. SmartObjects can also store data which we'll see when we create a SmartObject from the SharePoint list that will store the expense request information. SmartBox SmartObjects are K2-provided storage and we'll create a SmartBox-based SmartObject to store the actual expense claim line items.
