The K2 Designer for SharePoint requires the latest version of Microsoft Silverlight to be installed.  When trying to create a new K2 Designer for SharePoint workflow, you may be prompted to upgrade the current installed version of Silverlight and encounter a problem where the Silverlight installer is trying to locate the Silverlight.msi file in order to upgrade the existing installation, but is unable to locate the file.

To rectify this problem clean up the existing Silverlight installation with the Microsoft Cleanup utility by performing the following steps:

  1. Download the MS Cleanup utility from the following location:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
  2. Run the file from C:/Program Files/Windows Installer Cleanup Utility
  3. Remove the entry for Microsoft Silverlight
  4. Re-run the Silverlight Installer to upgrade to the latest version of Silverlight
