The current Exchange SmartObject service will be replaced by two new SmartObject services: the Exchange Administration SmartObject service and the Exchange Management SmartObject service. Due to Microsoft Exchange security limitations, the original Exchange SmartObject service could not be used outside of a workflow . This has been solved by splitting the Exchange SmartObject service, and the new Exchange Management SmartObject service can now be used with delegation rights.

When using the K2 Exchange Management SmartObject Service for delegation on a system configured to use K2 Pass-through Authentication, make sure that the Enforce Impersonation check box is enabled so that the service will not revert to the K2 Service Account if impersonation rights fail.

For new installations of K2, the Exchange Administration and Exchange Management SmartObject service instances will be created.  A service instance for the old service will not be created, but the dynamic link library (dll) of the old Exchange SmartObject service will be installed on the system (but not registered). The administrator of the K2 Server will need to register the instance of the SmartObject service in K2 Workspace if backward functionality is needed.

When upgrading a K2 system, the old Exchange SmartObject service will be updated with the latest fixes and new SmartObject service instances will be added for Exchange Administration and Exchange Management.
