K2 Server Configuration

This page allows you to install the K2 server as a standalone (single) server, or, if you are installing a Farm environment, to add this K2 server to an existing farm, or to configure this server as the first server in a Farm.

Farm deployments refer to topologies where you have multiple physical K2 application servers that act as one logical K2 application server, and this is usually achieved through the K2 Farm installation in conjunction with Network Load Balancing.

From a K2 installation point of view, the difference between a distributed install and a farm install is that you need to enter the K2 Server farm name (fully qualified domain name - FQDN) on the K2 Server Configuration page during installation. The K2 Server farm name is a virtual address identifying the NLB cluster as discussed in the topic Network Load Balancing.
