Issue

K2 database consolidated tool will time-out and fail to complete when these two tables ActInstDestXml and ActInstSlotXml are utilizing a large number of disk space. (I.e.  ActInstDestXml and ActInstSlotXml use about 200 GBs of disk space, the ActInstDestXML table has 578644 items).

Data Transfer Event: Begin processing table: [ServerLog].[ActInstDestXml] Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Common.TransferException: An error occurred while transferring data. See the inner exception for details. ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: A transport-level error has occurred when receiving results from the server. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - The specified network name is no longer available.) ---> System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The specified network name is no longer available

Symptoms

The consolidated tool is timing out during the copy/bulk-inserting data to the new ActInstDestXml and ActInstSlotXml tables in the consolidated database (single K2 database).

Using the SQL activity monitor, you can monitor the locked connections that are currently assigned to the copy/bulk-inserting task. All the available connections on the SQL box running consolidated tool are being utilized. When this happens, this current SQL process will need to be terminated and a reboot of SQL box needs to be performed to get out of it.

Troubleshooting Steps

1. mArchive script is provided and will need to be run against K2ServerLog database to reduce the disk space.

Refer to mArchive section: http://help.k2.com/kb001628

2. Rerun the consolidated tool.
