Issue

You are  unable to create a Service Instance of REST Service Type from the SmartObject Tester Tool.

the following error occurs:

"SmartObject Server Exception: Service Instance filename not specified"

Image

Symptoms

After investigating the assembly used for the rest broker, we found there was a version difference between the clients environments.

The assembly in question were located at:
Program Files (x86)K2ServiceBrokerSourceCode.SmartObjects.Services.Endpoints.Rest.dll

Resolution

To resolve this, please do the following:
1. Take a backup of the assembly to a different location.
2. Stop the K2 service.
3. Replace the assembly from a working and matching K2 version environment with the same Cumulative update and Fixpack.
4. Start the K2 service.
Now when creating a rest service it works as expected.
