Issue

If a K2 license key is not updated before it expires, users will be locked out of K2 Management and unable to update it via the Management interface in the Licenses node.

Symptoms

When attempting to access K2 Management to update an expired license key, an error message is shown.

Expired License  Your license has expired.  Please contact your K2 representative.

Troubleshooting Steps

If this occurs, the K2 Setup Manager (Setup.exe) with the 'Configure' option can be used to update the key.

- While running under the context of the Service or Install account, navigate to the K2Setup folder, and execute the Setup.exe file. This will open the K2 Setup Manager.
- Select the 'Configure' option, and the first page will be the license configuration page.  Here, paste your new license key (the System Key should be auto-populated), then hit 'Next.'
- On this new page titled 'K2 Server Configuration,' select the bottom radio button for 'Update K2 Server License.' The 'Next' button at the bottom should change to 'Update.'
- Hit the Update button and this should update your license key without the need for completing the entire configuration.

Should you need to request a new license key, please do so from K2's customer Portal: https://portal.k2.com/licensekey/default.aspx.

There is currently an active feature request to have the ability to update an expired license key via the UI rather than the K2 Setup Manager.  Please consider adding a vote at the following link: https://ideas.k2.com/ideas/APIT-I-1383

@maynero,

Are you running the Setup Manager from the installation media, or from the Start menu? According to this official KB article - https://community.nintex.com/t5/How-To/How-to-Obtain-and-Manage-K2-License-Keys/ta-p/123011 - you should be able to select Configure when running the Setup Manager from the Start menu, then step through to the License Configuration page.

If you are not finding this to be true, I would recommend logging a support case for further investigation.

@Gail Thanks! I run from both the start menu and from the path specified in this KB. I can see the Configure and can enter the License, it's the step after that where I need to select a radio button with label Update K2 Server License that it missing. I'll check with the support then. Thanks again.
