Issue

Fix Pack 9 does not complete installation.

Symptoms

The following error in seen in the InstallerTrace log:

"1:0: ControlUtil.Execute: 13:05:47:>> Logged Error: Utility error: System.InvalidOperationException: Cannot start service K2 blackpearl Server on computer 'XXX'. ---> System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: An instance of the service is already running

Troubleshooting Steps

The issue could be caused by the K2 Service that was unable to start in a timely manner due to multiple SmartObject Service Endpoints that needed to be started. 

To resolve this, please disable the SmartObject Service Endpoints in K2HostServer.exe.config (smoServices enableEndpoints="false"). This will allow the FixPack to be installed successfully.
